Fieldtrip and Sylvia’s stayed open to help serve the community during this COVID-19 crisis.

Inspired by Chef JJ’s tweet to help him feed the workers at Harlem Hospital, and the team at Sylvia’s unwavering need to support and feed the community, we were among the first to create a model has been replicated statewide, and is now being adopted by Gov. Gavin Newsome, in California, and throughout the country as the work continues.

Our strategy was rooted in the ways that their efforts could keep their staff working, effectively serve frontline workers at hospitals and shelters while keeping displaced small businesses, their staff, and the Harlem community fed.

As we gauged news cycles and social media reactions to corporate efforts, a few important media opportunities helped to shape the ways that other news media came to us. Staying independent and engaging the community directly proved effective for outlets including the New York Times, CBS: This Morning, Thrillist, PIX11, ABC7, CNBC, Mic, the Eater and others.
